Vietnam’s Trade Agreements – What you need to know

Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam: Foundation for Partnership in Trade and Investment: Vietnam’s Trade Agreements – What you need to know

In this year shaped by such treaties as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the EU Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EU-VN FTA) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), Vietnam is sending a strong signal to the world to play an even more important part in the global economy. In light of this EuroCham is pleased to announce the historic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam (MOFA). The MOU aims to create a framework to promote a better investment environment and to foster business opportunities for European companies, especially in Vietnam’s provinces outside the main urban centers.

The first of many related seminars, EuroCham and MOFA will highlight at this occasion the potential for European and Vietnamese businesses deriving from the EU-VN FTA that has been agreed upon in principle on the 4th of August 2015. Experts from the EU Delegation in Vietnam, MOFA and the Fulbright Program will outline the treaty’s impact on reducing trade barriers and tariffs. In attendance, there will be over 70 official representatives of Southern provinces  facilitating the exchange on trade information and investment environment.

This ceremony will also host the signature of a second Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EU-Vietnam Business Network (EVBN), a project funded by the European Union to support European companies in their development in Vietnam. Parties will agree in this MOU to promote EU business, investment and trade through all provinces of Vietnam; support the provincial authorities to implement policies in order to facilitate and establish an effective and favorable business environment for EU companies, particularly EU SMEs; and support provinces to identify the right partners in the EU and create opportunities to present Vietnamese provinces in the EU.
