Damen Song Cam, located on a 43-hectare plot of land alongside the Cam river and just outside the city centre of Haiphong, Vietnam, is a joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group from the Netherlands and Song Cam, which is part of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) from Vietnam. Their mission is to become the world’s biggest workboat factory producing top quality vesselsin the most efficient way against a competitive cost price.
High-quality and sustainable maritime group in Vietnam
The Damen Shipyards group operates 34 shipbuilding and repair yards, and has delivered more than 6,000 vessels in more than 100 countries and delivers some 160 vessels annually to customers worldwide. At Damen, it is all about ships. They design, build and service ships. Based on its unique, standardised ship design concept Damen is able to guarantee consistent quality.
Damen Song Cam Shipyard is renowned for its exceedingly high standards of HSEQ and for state-of-the-art facilities, including a climate-controlled paint shop, and for its production line delivery of high quality, proven vessels.
In Damen’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report published in July, 2019, which also included alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 2 million accident-free man hours at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam was stated as one of the concrete achievements.
During the COVID-19 outbreak recently, Damen Song Cam donated rice in fight against the virus. In particular, on 20th April, Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Hai Phong, Vietnam donated 3,000kg of rice to three hundred families living in the three surrounding communes of Thien Huong, Lam Dong and Hoang Dong.
