New Tetra Pak Packaging Brings Ice Cream Opportunity For All
On October 31, Tetra Pak launched the Tetra Fino® Aseptic 100 Ultra MiM, a new packaging that allows customers to produce liquid dairy and juice drinks using their existing production processes and market them as ice creams and frozen products.
The new package allows the production and distribution of dairy and juice drinks in small carton pouches at room temperature, and subsequently turned into frozen products in shops or in consumers’ home. This means producers can tap into the $72-billion global ice cream market without the need for additional investment in production equipment and chilled distribution systems.
Want Want, a leading food company in China, is the first company to pilot this product.
“We announced these new products to our distributors in early September. The response has been extremely positive because these products meet the needs of both parents and children. Parents can be reassured of the nutritional value of the product because it is their trusted Want Want flavoured milk without any preservatives, while children will be happy to enjoy these frozen treats because they are fun and tasty,” said Wang Jin Ping, general manager of the ice product business unit of Want Want Group.
The Tetra Fino Aseptic 100 Ultra MiM package can be produced on the A1 Tetra Pak filling machine platform. With a pre-applied opening using micro injection moulding technology, the package can be opened entirely by pulling the tab, making it easy for children and others to enjoy the frozen product.
The new package will be available from 2018 in the Greater Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
